Barack Obama Presidential Inauguration
Just about forty years ago blacks were being lynched in the United States of America blacks, they were spat upon and weren't even considered human enough to share the same facilities or eat in the same restaurants as whites. Approximately forty years later America has elected a black man to the highest office in the nation and possible throughout the world, Barack Obama has been elected and sworn in as the next President of the United States of America. No matter what race you are, this is something to be proud of.
Barack Obama named "Person of the Year"
Unsurprisingly, Barack Obama, the 44st elected President of the United States and the first historic black elected President of the United States has been chosen as the Time Magazine's "Person of the Year."
Obama has proven to be the ultimate winner in 2008, by running a storied campaign in defeating two of the most revered and respected political figures in the nation, by overcoming the obstacles of racial devisions and uniting a nation and its people for the common cause- changing the political face of the country and possibly the world.
Two trillion tons of Ice has melted over the past 5 years
Based on recent reports by NASA, over 2 trillion tons of ice has melted over the past 5 years, dating back to records taken in 2003. According to NASA, the majority of the melting has taken place in Alaska, Greenland and Antarctica, however satellite images show that Greenland has accounted for more than half the total melted mass reported.
10% of Americans are experiencing mortgage woes
On Friday morning (12/5/2008), the Mortgage Bankers Association reported that 10% of all Americans who own mortgages were either delinquent on their payments at the end of September or were facing foreclosures. This is a record high number not seen in recent history and we can all speculate as to why this is the case.

Spending billions of dollars per month of tax payer's money for a war that shouldn't have been started in the first place was more important than spending a few millions to help those same tax payers in times of crisis.
